NOTES A scientist, Hilary Parker, is after a drug to help the fight

against polio. A man offers his help but he's actually after

gold. One of Weissmuller's later Tarzan films.

Based on comic strip "Jungle Jim". And one of sixteen Jungle Jim films.

A variation on the Tarzan films. Jungle Jim is guide to a

woman scientist who is in the African jungle looking for a herb which will cure infantile paralysis. In 1948 this would be very topical with many epidemics of polio around the world. This film might be compared with Medicine Man (1992) in which scientist (Sean Connery) finds a cure for cancer.

Added later:

Woman doctor (as scientist) searching for the temple of

Zimbalu (sic?) for archaeological treasure and cure for infantile

paralysis. This is actually a poison used by 'natives' to

paralyse their victims.

There is the usual nonsense in the jungles outside L.A. with

lots of animal capers as filler. Jungle Jim gets to fight with a

crocodile and a lion. There is some kind of 'native' woman

(not black) wearing a very short wrap. And the Africans

appear to be played by white men.

The cure for polio is found, enough for 1,000s which seems to me an incredibly irresponsible story.
