NOTES |
Set in
Lahore, then in India in 1947 just before partition which created
Pakistan. While some of the film depicts the bloody battles
which led to more than a million people being killed there is
more time given to the romance between an Indian woman and a
Moslem man. The whole is seen through the eyes of an
eight year old girl who has polio and wears leg braces.
(Apparently she represents the film's director). |
