Before
"Liar, Liar" there was another film in which a comedy |

actor plays
a character who has to tell the truth (well, he |
|
doesn't
actually have to but thinks it a good idea) . But the |
|
whimsy,
charm, poignancy and acting talent is missing from |
|
Moore works
in advertising but instead of hyping the products he is frank
and honest. His sane colleagues have him committed to
a mental hospital. However as one might have predicted
the adverts are successful. In the meanwhile he quite enjoys
the institution and falls in love with another patient. |

The film
also proposes that the people of the ad agency are |
|
madder than
the patients in the mental hospital but only |
|
someone who
hasn't been inside a mental hospital would |
|
