TITLE |
Call
Me Anna (1990) (TV Film) |
DISABILITY |
Mental Manic
depression |
NOTES |
Patty Duke
acts herself in the film of her autobiography. |
After a
great start in Helen Keller's story she now |
concentrates
on TV films, usually in the 'disease of the week' |
Most of the
film is about the young Patty Duke. As a child |
actor she is
pushed along by her aunt and uncle and her |
mother is
kept away. In fact the aunt and uncle seek a legal |
separation
from her mother and have her sent to a |
sanatorium.
Her father is a drunk she hasn't seen for ten |
Early on she
is involved in a fraud on the $64,000 quiz |
programme.
And she is coached mercilessly for the part in |
The Miracle
Worker. But after receiving her Oscar her uncle |
sneaks into
her bed sending her shrieking to the bathroom. |
Later as an
adult she is a manic depressive but recovers from that. |
This is
really only for Patty Duke fans. |
