NOTES Patty Duke acts herself in the film of her autobiography.

After a great start in Helen Keller's story she now

concentrates on TV films, usually in the 'disease of the week'

mould.

Most of the film is about the young Patty Duke. As a child

actor she is pushed along by her aunt and uncle and her

mother is kept away. In fact the aunt and uncle seek a legal

separation from her mother and have her sent to a

sanatorium. Her father is a drunk she hasn't seen for ten

years.

Early on she is involved in a fraud on the $64,000 quiz

programme. And she is coached mercilessly for the part in

The Miracle Worker. But after receiving her Oscar her uncle

sneaks into her bed sending her shrieking to the bathroom.

Later as an adult she is a manic depressive but recovers from that.

This is really only for Patty Duke fans.
