TITLE |
Boston Blackie's Rendezvous (1945) |
One of the
Boston Blackie series and you know how series |
always turn
in on themselves. The detective on a seaside |
holiday
steps not on a crab but a dead body. (Yes, I know all |
bodies are
dead). Another cul de sac these series disappear |
down is
keeping the murder in the family. Boston Blackie's |
nephew has a
nervous disorder after a car crash. His family |
want him
declared insane because he's due to inherit |
$200,000.
But when he finds there is no cure for his condition |
he escapes
from the asylum he's been put in and starts killing |
This film
squarely belongs to another era. And the constant |
attempts at
humour by Blackie's assistant (called The Runt) |
are just so
crude as to be painful. |
