I found today a film called ‘the ex’ (2007). It has a main character whom is paraplegic and seems to appear often through the film and from what I can see of the trailer he is portrayed as an influencial and strong person.

I have not yet watched the film but can tell you that the paraplegic character is played by Jason Bateman, he is not a wheelchair user in daily life. Some of the bloopers see him standing and moving in a way not characteristic of a paraplegic. He has also appeared in other films without the wheelchair.
