Body
Snatcher, The (1945)
a.k.a.
Disabilities: Paralysis, tumour, horror
Comments: Set in Edinburgh, 1831. A reclusive doctor who
is into grave robbing for his anatomical studies takes on an
assistant.
Besides their digging activities they try to 'cure' a young girl who
is
paralysed (she has a tumour pressing on spinal nerves). By the
end of the film the girl is beginning to walk.
Thoughtful film from short story by R.L. Stevenson which
suggests that doctors were forced to rob graves in order to
pursue their studies and help people.
