NOTES |
After his
wife abducts his daughter and is then killed in a car crash her
common-place husband decides to return to his roots in NewFoundland.
There he meets his aunt and they with his daughter set up home in
the ruin of the family home. Quoyle (always referred to by his
surname) gradually finds himself a part of the fishing community. He
meets a woman who runs a day care centre. His daughter makes friends
with her son who is "slow at learning" because he didn't get enough
air at birth. The boy plays only a small part. He's shown to get no
special treatment or schooling.
This is a film I enjoyed very much including some great performances
though others might find its pace slow.
