NOTES A man who sells houses lives beyond his means, flirts, and

can't pay his alimony.

One day he gets drunk and smashes up a house resulting in

50 hours community service and a $2000 fine.

His service is as basketball coach to a group of people with

learning difficulties. On seeing them he walks out and gets a

night in gaol.

On his return he gets into the spirit of things, the group take to

him very quickly and they begin to 'improve'. When his 50

hours is up he volunteers. He has in fact lost his real estate

licence for 18 months.

A romance blossoms with the recreational therapist and the

group get to a basketball final. Though they do lose everyone

is happy at having got so far.

This isn't as bad a film as it might sound despite the usual

clichés. Resulting mainly from the performance of John

LaRoquette and some attention to character. And there is a

lack of sentimentality.

The group he is coaching live in a home/hostel and they do

operate as a group discussing important matters.

I don't know if these are actors with real learning difficulties

but that is a possibility.
