Two Jewish
families living in Antwerp in 1972 are contrasted. |

One is
secular, the other orthodox Hassidic. Both are trying |

to cope with
what happened to them during WWII. |

The liberal
philosophy student daughter from the secular |

family takes
work as a nanny with the orthodox family. |
|
Though she
is repelled by their strict rules she likes more and |
|
more the 4
year old boy with learning difficulties she is looking after. In
time she gains a better understanding of her Jewishness
but suddenly the boy drowns and the blame is targeted at
her. |
