Eddie Izzard
has been best known as a comedian though he |

has already
played Lenny Bruce in a stage play. He replaced |

Clive Owen
in the revival of this play. I haven't seen the play |
|
on stage so
don't know if/by how much it is altered for the TV |
|
Suffice to
say for the moment that Izzard and Hamilton are |
|
superb. The
frisson that will be missing from a live |
|
performance
is perhaps compensated by sitting in the |
|
comfort of
your own home. And for some disabled members |
|
of the
audience the only way to see the play. |
|
This version
may be difficult to see at all except on a minor TV channel. It
doesn't feature at IMDB or Allmovie.com and so is probably not
available on video. |
