NOTES |
What this
film has going for it is the exquisite Leslie Caron |
|
and the
erudite George Bernard Shaw, not to mention Alastair Sim. |
|
I've read
most of GBS including his early novels but so long |
|
ago I can't
remember much of the play this film was based |
|
on. If you
haven't heard of GBS which is quite likely these |
|
days he
wrote Pymalion on which My Fair Lady is based. |
|
Here Caron
is married to a ne'er-do-well who has tuberculosis and she has
problems trying to get medical consultants to consider
treating him. |
|
Shaw
couldn't write anything which wasn't philosophically |
|
challenging
and this is really about ethics and human values. |
