NOTES This is the story of William Wallace and his fight against the

English in the 1300s. It's on a big scale and one should

admire Gibson for getting this made. Maybe American

audiences enjoy watching the English getting their

comeuppance. But this is not history either on the wider

scale or of Wallace. It's a good old-fashioned heroic epic.

Robert the Bruce's father has leprosy which was quite

common at that time.
