|
TITLE |
Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery (1997) |
|
NOTES |
This film
has everything (except a story) , scarred face, |
|
prosthetic
hand, patched eye, blind. It's a spoof on 60s spy |
|
films. But
Mike Myers, Liz Hurley, the scriptwriter (Myers) and |
|
everything
else cannot sustain 87 minutes. Like Airplane |
|
which to me
is vastly overrated all the good jokes could be |
|
squeezed
into the trailer. |
|
A grave
disappointment despite the middling talent of Mike |
|
Myers and
the delectable midriff of Liz Hurley. |
|
Interesting
to see that the follow-up The Spy Who Shagged |
|
Me has
bombed. I love the comment at IMDB from one |
|
person who
thinks the original is Myers best work and he can't wait for the
sequel. The 2nd
sequel "Austin Powers, Goldmember" has more of the same but despite
all the filler and songs included it can only manage 1hr 25min of
the usual rubbish. One is not surprised to see Michael Caine but
some other famous faces pop-up. They must have mistaken this for a
popular TV series. |
