NOTES |
This must be
Robards last film since he died in 2000.
Robards plays Charles, an old confused man. One of his daughter's
lives close by and helps out but his other daughter who works as a
book editor in New York pays a visit and isn't happy with his
condition.
This condition appears to be more a consequence of growing old with
some memory loss and having been looked after by his wife his entire
married life. He lacks the most basic home-making skills. But later
he starts to imagine his son is still at school and that his
daughters are little girls. This son we learn died as a child.
He doesn't have Alzheimer's, his wife's death brought back the grief
over his son's death.
I don't think we can arrive at any diagnostic conclusion; the story
is about families and ageing. |
