NOTES |
Could be
interesting this since Germany considers itself BSE free and
voted (Nov98) against the U.K. being able to renew exports of
beef. |
|
Surprising
that more films haven't been made about this issue since there
have been so many cover-ups. Generally the topic has
been left to documentaries. Costa-Gravas'
"Missing" (1982) is very persuasive but was made 10
years after the events. Have any feature films changed
anything except keeping people out of shark infested waters? "The
China Syndrome" (1979) has become a by-word for
cover-ups. "Grapes of Wrath" (1940) is very powerful
though I wonder how much has changed. |
|
In this film
a journalist is researching an article on BSE and |
|
comes across
evidence of its presence in Germany. But he |
|
is killed
before publication. A colleague and his girlfriend take up the
cause. Though she comes into conflict with her father who just
happens to own an abattoir. |
