NOTES |
One of the
best novels about Hollywood, written in late 30s, |
|
West died in
a car crash in 1940. The film is pretty good, |
|
probably
more so if you haven't read the book. An interesting |
|
study of
'little' people who never make the big scene. |
|
Billy Barty
plays a dwarf. In the book there is a strict pecking |
|
order and I
don't know where he lies. Homer, the main |
|
character,
is the lowest (in his eyes) and all he can look down |
|
It might be
justified including this under Mental Illness. |
|
From novel
by Nathanael West (an American classic, read it). |
