Paul writes: "I
saw your mention of "The Time Travelers." I had a chance to
interview actress Merry Anders (scientist Carol White in this 1964
film) once and she retold the story of how Ib Melchoir met the
fellow with the claw hands at a party and asked him to be in the
film. A curious note: Merry Anders made three films where
disfigurement played a prominent part: First was "Hypnotic Eye,"
which was banned in some places for its gruesome depictions. Next
came "House of the Damned," with actual circus freaks inhabiting a
mansion. And of course, "The Time Travelers". Go (dis)figure. Paul
Woodbine (Merry Anders expert)"
Also, the film "Hypnotic Eye" was completely banned in Finland; it is
one strange film and the actors were actually hypnotized at points.
I have many stills from this film. Merry was a looker all right. She
had the other, more popular, blonde bombshells of the 'fifties beat
by a mile. Check out a web site called Glamourgals of the Silver
Screen; I wrote her entry and contributed the photos. Sincerely,
