Beauty (1998) (TV Film) |

NOTES |
An art
teacher gets a commission to do a portrait of the head |
of wealthy
family. This was traditionally done by her father but |
he is ill.
When she gets to the family mansion she meets a |
man she has
bumped into on the way. He limps, his right arm |
hangs limply
and his face is sort of lumpy. In a grossly |
sentimental
scene he reveals himself to be a writer and she |
has actually
read his book(s). |
Basically
the film is all about their getting to know each other |
and falling
in love. Along the way she jettisons her boyfriend, |
her father
gets pancreatic cancer and dies, a missing boy is |
found by a
dog and there's an abundance of lush music when |
nothing in
particular (or relevant to the plot) is happening. |
The film is
based on Susan Wilson's Beauty and the Beast. |
But the
beast here is only cosmetically ugly and this film is 5 |
