Deaf Minor

TITLE |
Man
of a Thousand Faces (1957) |
Actor Lon
Chaney's biography. His parents were deaf. The |
most
horrific part is when Chaney's first wife is upset at |
finding both
his parents are deaf. When she has their son |
she won't
look at him thinking he will be deaf. Even when she |
knows he
isn't she is increasingly unbalanced and eventually |
leaves both
her husband and her son. Because Chaney at |
this time
was so poor the son is put into a home. This spurs |
Chaney to go
to Hollywood which led to his success and fame and he
remarries. |
In Chaney's short autobiography he completely (and |
deliberately) leaves out mention of his domestic life. |
