Babel
(2006)
a.k.a.
Disabilities: Deaf
Comments: A series of interwoven stories from different
continents. In Japan the man who rifle wounds the American woman
touring Morocco has a daughter who is deaf. This is not a flattering
portrait of someone who is deaf. She mixes well with her deaf
friends with whom she uses sign language but misreads 'signs' from
some others and throws herself at a police officer she fancies. I
don't think the film is as good as some of the reviews say so. Its
subject is what could be called meritorious. Don't see it for Cate
Blanchett, she spends most of the film asleep on a stretcher.
