Phyllis Frelich and Ed Waterstreet who play the parents

belong to the National Theatre of the Deaf.

From Joanne Greenberg's novel 'In This Sign'.

See above the German film "Beyond Silence" (1996).

Catya writes:

Mare Winningham is also a member of the National Theatre of the Deaf. Yes, she's hearing - but she's been involved with the organisation for ages. Incidentally, so was Anne Bancroft (I think she was one of the 'guest' founders of the NTTD) and Robert Redford (who's recently set up a mini Deaf Festival within the Sundance Festival).
