Dancer, The (2000)

The black female dancer doesn't speak and uses sign language though her friends speak to her. Her disability is shown as a handicap to her getting on though she wins dance contests.

There is a parallel story of a white guy who is working on an invention which will convert movement into sound and of course they get together. Oddly he happens to know signing.

There is a lot of bad dancing and generally the film is trash.

There is a big guy who has asthma.
