NOTES Stallone as Freddy Heflin always wanted to be a New York

cop but had to settle for being Sheriff in rural New Jersey, all

this because he is slightly deaf. He's also overweight and

none too bright it would appear. In his small community live a

number of N.Y. cops who are his idols. But when Internal

Affairs arrives on his doorstep he discovers his idols are

flawed. Internal Affairs wants his help which puts him in a

dilemma; will he cooperate and lose his friends and a chance

to be one of them, or will he do the right thing?

His partial deafness is the result of rescuing a girl drowning.

And in a nice twist the girl he saved is married to one of the

corrupt cops.

A piece of trivia is that Stallone put on a load of weight for this role just as his fellow star, De Niro, did for "Raging Bull".

There the comparison ends.

Copland is quite a good film better than average but by no

means great. I'm afraid I can't agree with some that Stallone

is up to the part. He's better than normal but there's a

potential in this role which he doesn't realise.
