FYI: You posted on your site to report errors, and
I've included some
statements I think are erroneous concerning the film "K-PAX":
"His version of his own language is like an African 'clicking'
tongue. His
descriptions of his 'alien' life are very specific while being
completely
vague. While he can speak perfect English he doesn't know how to eat
a
banana."
Actually, the language he was speaking was not his own, but rather
another
alien tongue. The point Prot was making was that English isn't a
hard
language to learn, that he (Dr. Powell) should try speaking 'this'
(alien
language). Also, maybe it's more efficient and nutritious to eat an
entire
banana rather than peeling it first. An alien from a more advanced
society
probably wouldn't waste the nutrition of fruit by throwing away it's
rind.
Knowing how a human eats a banana doesn't change your eating habits
if
you're from a more advanced civilization, right? Or maybe K-PAXians
enjoy
the peel. Some people throw the tails of fried shrimp away, but I
eat 'em!
And how exactly can one be very specific and completely vague at the
same time? That takes some talent.
