A comment on deaf films
Hi,
I'm using your database for part of a project on deaf
men in film--it has come in very handy!
I found a place where I could fill in some info:
Voyage of the Mimi is an educational series shown in
the USA; I had to watch it in sixth grade. Victoria
is probably the deaf woman, whose name is Sally Ruth. She is very
resourceful and saves the entire crew with her knowledge of morse
code when they are stranded.
Here are some more movies/tv shows with deafness:
Films: I am told that "Nine Lives" has a deaf man in a
funeral scene.
Television shows:
Star Trek: the next generation: "Loud as a Whisper"
has a deaf ambassador.
E.R. has a deaf doctor (female) in one episode. One
of the main characters has a deaf son.
West Wing has a recurring deaf character (Marlee
Matlin) who is a pollster
CSI has an episode "Sound of Silence" that is about
the deaf: it features a deaf murder victim, his
roommate, and the deaf dean of the deaf college.
Additionally, CSI's main character going deaf in the
third season.
I hope this email helps you, especially as your
database has really helped me.
Thanks,
Katherine Randle
