Comment on braces

In "Galaxy Quest" the alien commander (in human
form) wears a leg brace and uses a crutch after he gets shot near the end of
the movie...minor, but kinda significant. Also, in "Music Of The Heart",
one of the girls that Meryl Streep's character teaches the violin to wears
leg braces, and near the end when she returns to play the reuinion concert
she is using a crutch. Also, here in america, on the network VH1, there is
a series called "Behind The Music", where they profile (often times, in
depth) a recording star/group. One star they profiled was John Mellencamp,
who was born with Spina Bifida, and I imagine they mentioned it and showed
some pics at the beginning of the story. I haven't seen it so I can't say
for sure. Some of the "Behind The Music" shows are available on
videocassette.
