NOTES In some quarters this film isn't highly rated but I thought it a very good crime story. Reno plays a detective brought in from Paris and Cassel a local detective who are both investigating a gruesome murder though Cassel is initially following up another incident. It is set in the French alps and centred around a university/polytechnic for very bright students in a community which has become peculiarly inbred.
There are many twists in the plot which lead back to a girl who died 20 years before in what seemed to be an accident. Her mother is now insane and shut up in a convent.
There is a young blind boy who has a fierce guide dog.
