Enchanted Cottage, The (1945) |
DISABILITY |
Blind
Disfigurement |
A couple
rent a cottage for their honeymoon but then he is |
called away
to war (WWI) before they can be married. He |
returns from
the war to the cottage with a scarred face and |
the loss of
use in his right arm. Thinking he won't be |
accepted he
refuses to see his fiancee but slowly falls in love |
with the
rather plain maid who works at the cottage. |
Her blind
uncle plays the piano and preaches a positive view. |
And the
couple appear to be 'cured' of her plainness and his |
injuries.
And though the change has only been in their minds |
Sentiment
somewhat overwhelms the message. |
From play by
Authur Pinero. |
Also as a
silent film in 1924 |
