  Blind Major

>

TITLE Cat o' Nine Tails, The (1971)

ALT__TITLE Il Gatto a Nove Code

DISABILITY Blind

COUNTRY France/Germany/Italy

LENGTH 112

GENRE Horror

DIRECTOR Dario Argento

CAST Karl Malden

Tony Franciscus

NOTES Malden (dubbed) plays a blind ex-journalist, blinded in an

accident. James Franciscus who played the blind detective in

TV series Longstreet (1971-72) is a journalist. Malden's

approach is to just stare into space with his head slightly

raised. He lives with his niece who is about 10 and whose

parents are dead. She acts in some situations as his 'eyes'.

The drama switches to a laboratory doing genetic research

into hereditary diseases where there has been a robbery.

Apparently nothing has been stolen and espionage is

suspected. But one worker knows what has been stolen and

by whom. And very quickly he is killed by a train -- pushed of

course.

Some of the time Malden's character wears dark glasses. At

one time he is shown frying eggs.

When walking together Francicus holds his arm instead of

allow Malden to hold his.

Overall this is just a mystery story rather badly done.
