NOTES A dramatic opening when for a second we might believe that

Willis plays a baddie but he turns out to be really an

undercover cop, Art, who's a bit of a non-conformist.

Then we meet Simon who is very good at puzzles and codes.

And he solves a puzzle which results in his ringing a number

which puts him through to a top secret project. The

puzzle/code had been put there in a puzzle book to suss out

the geek factor. But so much has been invested in this

'unbreakable' code the man at the top of the agency decides

to eliminate the kid. The parents are killed but the kid escapes and Art is given the job of protecting him. But he admits that he's no idea how to handle Simon (9 years old).

In one scene the boy is in hospital under guard and the guard

is called away which is discovered by Art (remember how the

guards are called off in The Godfather).

And there's a big conspiracy which means he can't contact

the authorities so it Art against the world.

There's a car chase, a fight on a train, and a chase through

crowds of people.

Plus he has an all-purpose black friend who is also a cop and

still can use police connections.

Alex Baldwin calls the boy, Simon, "one of nature's mistakes".

Lots of borrowings from other films like "3 Days of the

Condor". Of course by the end of the film Art bonds with Simon.
