NOTES The story of women who worked for European resistance in

1930s helping Jews escape from Germany. Julia has a

wooden leg as a result of a student demonstration in Vienna

and uses crutches. She uses the crutches (big heavy awkward things) because the false leg she believes was made for someone else.
Told by the playwright Lillian Hellman who

smuggled money into Germany.

This film has had good reviews and has a good cast but I just

couldn't get interested.
I watched this again and it is an interesting film if you are familiar with Dashiell Hammett and Lillian Hellman but the journey to Berlin goes on far too long.

From a story in the book Pentimento by Lillian Hellman
