NOTES |
The story of
women who worked for European resistance in |
|
1930s
helping Jews escape from Germany. Julia has a |
|
wooden leg
as a result of a student demonstration in Vienna |
|
and uses
crutches. She uses the crutches (big heavy awkward things) because the
false leg she believes was made for someone else.
Told by the playwright Lillian Hellman who |
|
smuggled
money into Germany. |
|
This film
has had good reviews and has a good cast but I just |
|
couldn't get
interested.
I watched this again and it is an interesting film if you are
familiar with Dashiell Hammett and Lillian Hellman but the journey
to Berlin goes on far too long. |

in the book Pentimento by Lillian Hellman |
