TITLE |
Harold and Maude (1971) |
NOTES |
Harold is a
20 year old. His main 'hobbies' are watching |
buildings
being demolished, faking his suicide and going to |
funerals. He
has an obsession with death. Maude is 79 years |
old, she
also goes to funerals but she's bright and colourful |
and enjoys
life. They meet at a funeral and Maude decides to |
inject some
life into the sombre Harold. There |
develops a
strong, affectionate relationship. The film is full of |
black humour
especially Harold scaring away dates set up by |
his mother
by faking suicide. There is one character some |
might object
to. He is Harold's Uncle Victor who has lost his |
right arm
when he was MacArthur's right hand man (WWII). |
Still gung
ho about war he salutes by |
pulling on a
string which raises his empty sleeve. |
