TITLE Falcon and the Snowman, The (1984)

ALT__TITLE

DISABILITY Amputee VERY MINOR

COUNTRY USA

LENGTH 130

GENRE True story

DIRECTOR John Schlesinger

CAST Timothy Hutton

Sean Penn

Pat Hingle

NOTES A true tale of two Americans passing secrets to the Russians.

Near the beginning Penn's character does a drug deal in

Mexico with a guy who is a above knee amputee. He hides

the drugs in his prosthetic leg and gets through U.S. customs

with no hassle from a customs officer who is a fellow Vietnam

vet.

Parts of the film are interesting but the script is generally a

mess leaving one unclear what the spying is about. And

concentrates on the moral dilemmas of Boyce. It's also a pity

to see Penn going over the top in some scenes.

As I remember it the book of this true story is much more

interesting.
