adapted from Chekhov's Uncle Vanya and set on a |

in the Australian outback (New South Wales) in |

1919. Now
Uncle Vanya is one of the great plays of the 20th |

Century
(about 1904) but this is not a great film. It's not that |
|
bad and it
does achieve some of atmosphere of the Chekhov |
|
original
which is something like playing croquet on a lawn lain |
|
Suffice to
say that this is a drama about a family in which the |
|
real issues
simmer until near the end. People are not quite |
|
what they
seem. And others who perhaps shouldn't have |
|
