NOTES In a supermarket a woman forgets who she is. Instead of

going to the police she books into a hotel. She has no

identification on her only cash. When she takes off her coat

she is surprised to find her dress is covered in blood (hence

in the script's terms why she didn't go to police). After

cleaning herself and buying new clothes she goes to police

where she gets a medical examination. The doctor tells her

she has acute non-psychotic syndrome, a made-up term if I

ever heard one. He explains this results from too much

stress and prescribes her tranquillisers. Suddenly a man

turns up claiming to be her husband. He is chief of paedriatic

surgery. He says she was on her way to San Diego to see

her brother. He takes her home and she is known to their

neighbour (the neighbour isn't too friendly since it turns out

she thought the woman had had an affair with her husband).

The husband hires a woman to 'babysit' her and it is clear she is being manipulated. She later discovers the pills her

husband has prescribed are dangerous.

The situation becomes more suspicious with a few red

herrings until she discovers her daughter is the victim of

sexual abuse (a very badly handled episode). The abuser

turns out to be the father and he's done it before to the

'babysitter's' daughter.

Overall riddled with cliches and a sense of unreality where the

amnesia is simply a plot device.
