This is a strange story about a man who says he is immortal. He is
first seen sitting the courtyard of an hotel. An actress who is
appearing in Hamlet as Hamlet is curious about him discovers he was
released a month ago from hospital with amnesia. After he gets
beaten up while trying to help her black boyfriend who is attacked
she wants to cure him. They go away together but she grows tired of
him. At one point he cuts his throat and then goes on to make love
to her. And they find some kind of peace and joy.
Unfortunately no character really registers with our empathy. The
film is generally pretentious, ungainly, mystifying. And the
flashbacks to other periods in history are quite unconvincing.
