Leo has survived the Holocaust and gone to America where he works as a clerk in a hotel. But the has total amnesia about what happened to him before he arrived there. Then one evening he starts singing and everyone thinks he has a great voice. With the help of a psychiatrist he starts to remember what happened to him and his parents. His real name is David and his father was a cantor. Though he could make a career singing he decides to be a cantor.
