NOTES |
Randy Quaid
plays an ex-con on parole for bank robbery who got AIDS
from a blood transfusion. He's a rampant |
heterosexual
who sees AIDS as "God's way of cleaning |
house." He
lives in a half way house with a bunch of "fags". |
And he's
about to get a new roomate. Eric Stolz is the |
middle-class
Ivy league type who moves in. Of course you |
know by now
that after a number of tussles each will learn |
from the
other and come to understand what each is about. |
The warden
of the place is a sort of referee and we don't see |
The
performances are good, the cliches are ripe and we're |
reminded of
what we already know. In a competition for the |
biggest
cliche must be the pool game in which Stolz is seen |
as a
greenback and wins hands down. |
But it's
challenged by the heavy rainstorm in which Stolz and |
Quaid choose
to discuss moral philosophy. |
Quaid who
has been getting headaches severe enough to |
bang his
head against the wall is referred to hospital by the |
ever helpful
Stolz. A scan reveals he has a small brain |
