NOTES Randy Quaid plays an ex-con on parole for bank robbery who got AIDS from a blood transfusion. He's a rampant

heterosexual who sees AIDS as "God's way of cleaning

house." He lives in a half way house with a bunch of "fags".

And he's about to get a new roomate. Eric Stolz is the

middle-class Ivy league type who moves in. Of course you

know by now that after a number of tussles each will learn

from the other and come to understand what each is about.

The warden of the place is a sort of referee and we don't see

enough of her.

The performances are good, the cliches are ripe and we're

reminded of what we already know. In a competition for the

biggest cliche must be the pool game in which Stolz is seen

as a greenback and wins hands down.

But it's challenged by the heavy rainstorm in which Stolz and

Quaid choose to discuss moral philosophy.

Quaid who has been getting headaches severe enough to

bang his head against the wall is referred to hospital by the

ever helpful Stolz. A scan reveals he has a small brain

tumour.
