NOTES |
On his
sixtieth birthday a man (Frank Langella) learns he has |
|
a fatal lung
cancer. He has nodules on both lungs called (I |
|
He's a
television producer of a Star Trek type show which his |
|
son refuses
to act in even though he's having difficulty getting |
|
work as
actor. In the mean while he sells the life insurance |
|
policies of
people with AIDS. The lump sum then goes to the |
|
From this
point things get a little bit confusing as we cycle |
|
through a
series of scenes involving the man and his family in |
|
what are
basically a number of two-handed scenes. There is |
|
his
(adopted) daughter (Arquette) who becomes decidedly |
|
odd when she
learns who her birth parents are and begins to |
|
become
religious. The son falls in love with a woman |
|
(Perkins)
who is HIV positive but she dies soon afterwards |
|
Buck Henry
plays a script writer with AIDS. |
|
It's a mixed
bag but Perkins is terrific. |
