NOTES On his sixtieth birthday a man (Frank Langella) learns he has

a fatal lung cancer. He has nodules on both lungs called (I

think) endino carcinoma.

He's a television producer of a Star Trek type show which his

son refuses to act in even though he's having difficulty getting

work as actor. In the mean while he sells the life insurance

policies of people with AIDS. The lump sum then goes to the

person with AIDS.

From this point things get a little bit confusing as we cycle

through a series of scenes involving the man and his family in

what are basically a number of two-handed scenes. There is

his (adopted) daughter (Arquette) who becomes decidedly

odd when she learns who her birth parents are and begins to

become religious. The son falls in love with a woman

(Perkins) who is HIV positive but she dies soon afterwards

from I think pneumonia.

Buck Henry plays a script writer with AIDS.

It's a mixed bag but Perkins is terrific.
